Nothing Deep and Thoughtful Here

Nothing Deep and Thoughtful Here

I like observing people

(Feel rhythm in this line?)

Hearing conversations

Round me as they dine

To you this could read boring

I don't care if it does

I'll carry on my writing

You want to go? - no fuss

We both agree a poet

Just writes what they want to

So boring yes, or otherwise

I'll write for me (not you)

There's nothing deep and thoughtful

About my verse writ here

I like it's rhythmic lilting

It's also me, sincere

But hang on Don, just go re-look

It's not simple, trite
You've written things worth thinking 'bout

Things you think are right

Thankyou to all you commenters and likers. There's always the battle between writing for myself on the one hand and wanting accolades from others. I have to convince myself if others like it fine, if not, still fine. Not easy. The need for praise is inborn.

Jason. I think exactly like you. Write for yourself. It's inborn. It keeps poets going.

Always best to write for yourself, I do. If people like it that's a really nice thing, but I always think, "I need to like it first."
