Passing The Buck

Call me old-fashioned

call me an idiot

but I still think

you should not buy something

unless you can pay for it

if you cannot afford it

maybe you don't need it

credit is easy but

debt is bad

sure we can pass the bill off

to whoever comes after you

but is that fair to our children

or their children?

how far down the line

can we pass the buck?

what will the next generation

think of us

spending like drunken sailors

there is an old saying

that is always true

somewhere down the line

the bill will come due.

I'm with you there, d. I don't hold with this current addiction to credit either. Sure, it's a direct hit to the pleasure centre in our brain but you'd think we could act a little more maturely occasionally. We're like those 4yo kids who are offered 2 sweets in 10mins if they can refrain from eating one now. Tragic or pathetic?
Anyway, rant over. I liked your poem. Straightforward and forthright.
