Time for Change

Time for Change

We have been duped for far too long

in the land of seeming inertia

The ball in the court has been knocked

over the net with monotonous regularity

The game is over, the spectators are bored

the words moribund and defunct are spoken

A new broom waits in the wings off stage

poised to sweep clean, to create anew

A breath of fresh air blows across the court

the spectators sit up to notice a change

Participation and representation are demanded

long gone are the days of political perpetuity

Democracy has waited long enough

often stifled and thwarted by the elite players

It is now our turn to play the game

not merely with crosses on ballot papers

Not as benign observers encased in apathy

but in the vanguard of our destiny

An exceptional poem...Bravo Keith. Game over...yell it out loud for all to hear!

I will to continue to have faith "in the vanguard of our destiny". They are the "new balls"

Keith - as you used a tennis analogy I'm surprised not to see 'new balls please'.
