Women of the north: Kate Fox to spin some yarns in Marsden

entry picture

Leading performance poet and Radio 4 regular Kate Fox is appearing at two venues on consecutive days in Marsden next month. On Friday 14 June she will be at Marsden Mechanics Hall performing Where There’s Muck, There’s Bras, a mix of stand-up, storytelling and spoken word about northern women, from Hylda Baker to Helen Sharman, Betty Boothroyd to Mother Shipton. Next morning, on Saturday 15 June from 10am-11.30am at Marsden library, Kate will be leading Spinning a Yarn, a writing workshop using similes of thread and weaving to look at the impact of women in our lives. It’s open to writers at all levels including absolute beginners, tickets are free but places are limited, so booking is essential.
