When Bluebonnets Bloom
For Texans there's nothing
that we hold more dear
than the time of the season
when Bluebonnets appear
Their dazzling blue color
blankets roadsides and fields
a sea of blue blossoms
lures us with appeal
A ride in the country
gives us a good view
of the countryside painted
in the brilliance of blue
In our cherished memories
it's always assumed
the blessing of Texas is
when Bluebonnets bloom.

We also have yellow flowers here
Which blanket our fields far and wide
Although they're a sight, they're a pest plant alright
Brought in by our settlers on their ride
Oxalis - soursob. They thought it would look nice planted in the garden. Decided to jump the fence and go feral ?
