You gave me flowers..

You gave me flowers

So beautiful

So fecund

Thick with perfume

So rich it dripped from fleshy petals

Devoured my senses

Ran through my fingertips

Finding my lips like dewey nectar

On the eager

Searching tongue of a humming bird

Leaving me reeling, intoxicated

Winged

Breathless

You gave me flowers

Rich red and purest white

I had to touch the soft pelt

Satiating my desire

To know and be known

Becoming part of the beauty

Of this living thing

These flowers are tended

These flowers are loved

You

Gave me

Flowers

◄ Education, my measure

Midges in my head ►

Brilliant, Moira. Evocative and provocative imagery in lovely swimming lines. Intimacy with the beauty of all living things is a joyous relationship.
