Stories Untold

Be kind to those you meet,

Each is a story you haven't read,

Each a novel left un-thumbed,

Each a thriller of untold dread,

Each a trashy romantic tome,

Each a lyrical elegant play,

A Merchant of Venice, Fall of Rome,

50 varied Shades of Grey.

If you haven't got past the back cover blurb,

Made time to read each sonnet complete,

Then remember each is an unread book,

So be kind to the people you meet.

I love this - it is such an important message and you have achieved it without accusations or pomposity.

This poem is a gentle reminder of our reponsibilities to those we don't know.

A clumsy word could devastate a sensitive soul or inflame a defensive one.

'STORIES UNTOLD' should be prominantly displayed in every school and public place for all to see.

You are right Jason.
Too often we have preconceived opinions that we are loath to abandon.

There may be safety in caution, but sometimes it can be exhilarating to just close your eyes and jump in !
