GIVE THE DOG A BONE

entry picture

This old man, Barnier

“I’ve got nothing, Treeza May”

With a nick-nack paddywack “I’m begging for a bone.

I need something to take home”.

This old man, just as brusque

“Bugger off” says Donald Tusk

With a nick-nack paddywack “I’m begging for a bone.

I need something to take home”.

“To your bunker back you go”

Jean Claude Juncker tells her so

With a nick-nack paddywack “I’m begging for a bone.

I need something to take home”.

“Perhaps you might just do a swop;

Change a comma for fullstop”

With a nick-nack paddywack “I’m begging for a bone.

I need something to take home”.

I’m certain the one thing all of us agree on whether Remainer, Leaver, No Dealer, Dealer, 2nd Voter, Left, Right, whatever, is that politics was never more interesting in our lifetimes.

Right On John! Anybody would think that the EU wanted us to leave and decided to fake a motion to chuck us out. Whereas the EU need the UK to remain part of the club.
How do you break a bundle of sticks? - - - You take them out one at a time.
We need to be part of a big group, without the EU we will be swallowed up by the USA. I'll give the NHS ten years max before they pinch it if Britain leaves the EU.

Whilst I understand your "grudging respect" for May, I was never
exactly won over by her stint as home secretary and her arrogant
high-handed approach to the police service...one of the most
responsive and duty-minded of all public services. I retain the
feeling she is pursuing much of the same attitude of mind towards
the public under the guise of "getting the best deal", recalling the
responses from the so-called Grandees like Clarke & Heseltine who
had been so assiduously working against Thatcher in her time
when she clearly had more awareness of the situation - another reason why "Grocer" Heath hated her, he being the of the "shan't
tell/keep them in the dark" school of EU adherents. Let me make
my personal position clear: if Heath and the rest had laid it on the
line and addressed the nation (like US presidents tend to do)
about what was going on, I would have happily accepted the
nation's response to go along or not. But it was never given that
chance (until the UKIP-driven Referendum) and even now the
likes of May are playing "procrastination poker" in a rigged game.
Rees-Mogg put it plainly the other evening: It is all about trusting
our politicians. And that, at present - to quote an apt line from a
favourite film - is about "as rare as an honest man in Parliament".
Cheers.

I confess, MC, I have a grudging respect for Treeza. She has more balls than those traitorous self-servers who’ve shafted her and certainly more than Labour’s Invisible Man. Where has he been for all this time?
As for the EU, it’s not their job to roll over and give us everything we want. Why would they offer anything more from the tin to her or anyone else for that matter? It’s a popular conception among the great unwashed that negotiation is unilateral.

Hindsight is a grand thing JC, but if the Tories hadn't been so eager
to take us down the garden path towards a mythical trading nirvana
knowing it was aimed elsewhere but leading us on in the manner of a Judas goat, we wouldn't be in this mess. Cromwell once famously
dismissed the Parliament of his day because of their "us first"
attitude to their proper responsibilities. We have seen their like in the
latter decades of my own lifetime.

I take it you don't approve of the deal she's negotiated, MC?

Can't someone tell May "you must stop"
These tax-paid visits to Johnny's Junckshop,
Whose secondhand offers are a cheek
And far removed from what we seek!
The best things come to those who wait
And there's such a thing as a sell-by date.
Stop paying into its greedy coffers
And look around for better offers. ?
