Do You Share My Problem?

Do you share my problem?

Readers of my rhyme

Ideas they keep on spilling in

Spilling all the time

Trouble is I can't

Filter what I see

I want to grasp all good ideas

That pass in front of me

This causes me frustration

Plagues me constantly

I guess this is my penalty

For writing poetry

Thankyou for all your comments and likes. I'm glad I'm not alone with this. Trouble is my input is greater than my output, having to 'restrict' myself to one a day in order to give you all a chance to look before it 'disappears' into my profile. Ah well, such is life.....

As many of you have indicated I would rather have a drawer full of ideas to draw on than none at all. Which I do. 1" thick pile of 'poems in waiting'. Arghhh......?

I am with Hannah on this. A constant flow of ideas needs to tapped whether it rhymes or not. Apparently enimen has boxes full of lines that he has come up with for later use. needless to say they pretty well all rhyme
Don't worry about it Don. it's all about what works for you

Know the problem! But a cassette tape recorder - or a
pencil/pad - at hand can retain the flashes that light the mind before they are extinguished or overwhelmed by others.

I think ideas that come spinning in is good for a poet.
It's, as you say, sorting them out and deciding which to share and which to keep back.
Every idea is valuable, I believe.

I haven't thought about this comment, but only to ask the question who doesn't share my problem? Poets who aren't serious? Wannabe poets? Those who have the ability to filter and limit what they write about? Those who choose one topic and fine-tune it over time to poet laureate standard?

All I know is I'm driven to write. One could call it an obsession. I call it an addiction. Better this than ice.... ?
