Who could have seen it coming - his sorry turn-a-bout?
Humiliating climb-downs after months of holding out,
Despite face-saving caveats designed to mask the rout.
A train crash coming further down the line.
He rode the tide of Principles; “New Politics” he’d gloat
But saw that power hinges on the fickle few that float
So when the choice was “Principles” or loss of Jewish vote
It’s obvious that “Votes” wins every time.
The trouble with politics is that you can't please everyone,
and risk pleasing no one - and no end of explanation or excuse sees you forgiven or forgotten.
How, in this country with its acceptance of various needs and faiths only too happy to say yes to what is offered, have we come to such a scenario of intolerance and distrust being played out within these shores of historical hand-out- to-help-out refuge to those in need?
Indeed - tread warily, for you step on my dreams.

Interesting take, MC. My issue is not with Corbyn’s politics on this issue - I don’t believe he has a racist bone in his body. My issue is with his leadership. Not to see how this was bound to end shows huge naivety on his part. Not a quality I would want in a prospective Prime Minister.
