Drive Time

The drive home
pits us
against them
the furious drivers
who have weaponized their cars
intent on conquering
the road and those
who get in their way
they ride your bumper
they blink their lights
move over
move over
they run up your bumper
they change lanes
desperately dashing between cars
to get there first
ahead of YOU
no courtesy
no rules of the road
they push you out of the way
in a rush of air as they go by
until when
ironically
we meet again
at the stop light
one car length
is their measure of success
but they are happy
it is their badge of honor
their egos ride in the balance
their masculinity
symbolized by the size
of their engines
their twin tail pipes
the fact is
they are ahead
of You
the tape measure tells the tale
but dead men
tell no lies.

unfortunately every word is true!! Driving, in some areas anyway, has become a kind of war - no-one uses indicators anymore - at least not until they have started to turn.

Their cars are really 'weaponized'. Like the language too.
What about using their horns - devilish! Great work.

In the UK we pay an annual tax to keep a car on the road. Newer, less polluting cars have cheaper tax, mine is no tax because it is also small and less emissions.

no - my head and hats don't get on....

Such a great observation of how some twats choose to drive.

I see this every day - I potter to work in my little 1000cc, no road tax car, sticking at 60mh and nearly always catch up with the speeders as we hit the run of lights.

Nice one!

Cheers

Beware, they are out there! A continually topical transport
reminder of the "idiot on the road" syndrome. I wonder if -
they think of all the time they save
Speeding towards an early grave!

Nice one Knapey. I'm glad now that I drove like like a madman all the way home so I had the time to read your post!
