Compulsive Manipulation

The monster digs it's claws in tight
I can't escape it, with all my might
I want to run away or hide
But today, with you, I stand to fight
The dark won't win, only light

I can feel the thread, moving my limbs
Like a puppeteer is pulling the strings
I see myself saying and doing these things
As the pied pipers' flute continues to sing

The voices that speak so clearly to me
Try to change my views and loyalties
Not realising deep down, my heart speaks truly
And will always set me free from the lies they speak

I can see the games being played in front of me
Now my eyes are open and I can clearly see
From way up high in this lonely tree
That I will finally, from you, set myself free

I see that not every action requires a reaction
Especially when all it amounts to is your sadistic satisfaction
I await your dissatisfaction to my lack of interaction
Discontinuing your precisely planned chain of reaction.

Plotting away won't result in your victory
Everything you say and do is contradictory
Even how you retell your life time history
To fool people properly you need to work on the general delivery
Of all the thousands of lies to which you speak.

Now my eyes are open and I can clearly see
All of the games that are being played in front of me
So I await your dissatisfaction to my lack of interaction
Discontinuing your precisely planned chain of reaction.

Thank you Don! I really liked those two lines as well...really flow well off the tongue 😀

I like this Hayley. The words, phrases, thoughts intertwine nicely. Thought these two lines in particular shone out. Nice bouncing rhythm.

I await your dissatisfaction to my lack of interaction
Discontinuing your precisely planned chain of reaction.

To then use them as a 'closure' I liked. 😎
