Mortality

Mortality

Last night a shadow came to me.
Linked arms and took me on a journey.
It took me to places I didn't want to go.
It whispered things I didn't want to know.

A soft pillow brushing my arm.
Its smothering presence had me alarmed.
Shadow why do you want me?
Are there secrets you want me to see?

We walk side by side.
There is nowhere I can hide.
I shake my arm.
Try to brush you off, but still you remain.

My step faltering, as your shape you keep altering.

Perhaps you will go as you came.
I hope.. but I doubt.
I know nothing will ever be the same.

We walk together now.

This has almost the feel of Dickens Christmas carol about it when scrooge is spoken to by one of the ghosts.
Good poem Taylor

A fine line to walk and a wonderful poem to remember it by. If I may suggest Taylor, you should save the poems you put on here that are not anywhere else, as it'd be good to see you with another book of poetry. Writers always need pens, and pens always need poems.?
