Gold of Liverpool

The Gold of Liverpool.

The Gold of Liverpool

Is the vein of people you will meet

In hotels, bars, clubs and cafes

Gold is not merely the Mersey beat

It’s the shining sea of faces

That one see’s in every  street

It’s the waterfront with Liver-Birds

And the busy docklands below their feet

It’s the children ringing out their laughter

It’s the folks who work hard too

Even the dubious politicians

Add their brazen colors to the hue

The Gold of Liverpool is in our hospitals

The Royal,  Broadgreen, Whiston  and Alder Hey’

As well as in our football teams

Whether they play at home or away

It shines in every housing estate

Which surround this Orb of Old

That started on the shores of the Mersey

To form this pot of gold

Our medical staff –like all- are delightfully unique

Workers who put their job’s first

From the beginning, to the end of the week.

Let’s not forget the firemen, they are Golden too

Like medics they save lives of people

The next one could be you.

Policemen keep us safe [mostly]

Although they often harass to fine

For petty things like seat-belts

This goes on most the time,

But part from that they are a force

Without which there’d be

Anarchy on our Golden streets

For you -and you -and Me!

The Gold of Liverpool

Is not just music activating your feet

It’s the way we welcome and help people

From our hearts…. That’s the Golden treat!
