Depression

Depression

Clouds settle upon us

we are incarcerated within

A heavy atmosphere prevails

no view is in sight

Little light filters in

time becomes endless

Interest is diminished

everything falls to a new low

No longer a desire to read

enthusiasm plummets

Routines are interrupted

life stalls, even fails

Meaning is in abeyance

introspection takes over

Resentment and recrimination

readily take root

Then the spell is broken

all is amazingly renewed

Regeneration revitalises

Normality is restored

Just to echo the comments above keith, youve encapsulated how at times, the mind ebbs away, then " Regeneration revitalises" and flows again ...

Brilliant poem Keith on a subject that can be difficult to share sometimes as some people still don't understand what it means to be depressed.
love that line in the third stanza
enthusiasm plummets
Routines are interrupted
life stalls, even fails

reminds me of a plane going down because the engine has cut out and then just at the last minute it restarts and the pilot is able to bring back up.
Nice one

Hi Keith
Enjoyed reading this...at some time or other I think everyone can relate to this type of feeling.
I've certainly experienced times like this that lasted too long .
Good ending though because there's always hope even though hard to latch hold of sometimes.
Also reminds me of Winter changing to Spring.
