May Day (Liverpool 2017)

entry picture

I listen to this May Day shout.
'Tories, Tories... out, out out!
Save our Countries failing NHS.
Tories voted out, yes, yes yes!

If your rosette is of Tory blue.
Please explain the trolley queue.
The trollys that line up in A&E's
Worn out staff, on their knees.

I listen to the loud drum beats.
As marchers take to the streets.
I listen to the whistles and flutes.
I see the flags, our Labour roots.

No Tory flags to be seen or flown.
They only ever care for their own.
My City will always be Labour red.
So proud we'll never be Tory led.

Good marching stuff but times and people change. What is
now also went before and can't be changed overnight,
for good or bad. The habit of giving preference to hospital
trust management over medical staff didn't begin with the
Tories and its equivalent can be found at the BBC when
it's just been reported that there are still legions of BBC
"management" earning as much if not more than the salary
given to the prime minister - despite what had been
promised by that publicly funded broadcasting behemoth
that advertises for its staff in The Guardian.
