Milestone

The first milestone for me

was when I was only three

walked to the end of the garden

and scraped my knee

but then, I was only three

The second milestone for me

was when I was twenty-three

Enrolled in the Civil Service

to serve queen and country

a jolly good pension and all for free

The third, and last, milestone for me

was reaching eighty-three

walked to the end of the garden

and scraped my knee

but then, I was only eighty-three

So it should be plain to see

from three to eighty-three

what comes around goes around

I scraped my knee aged three

and then again at eighty-three

and I still have the scab

on my bloody knee.

Reminiscent of the old saying about going to Church.
The first time they threw water at me; the last it was confetti; the next time it'll be clay.
