Once upon a time

We had that magic thing called love;

It shone into our lives

Just like the stars above.

And with the stars came heaven too,

But storytellers know -

Once upon a time was long ago.

Love was "Happy Ever After",

In a word: Eternity,

Filled with joy and laughter.

Love was always - Love was true,

But little children know -

Young and careless, you and me,

Love was all that we could see,

So happy that it met us.

Thrilling us in heart and mind,

Never dreaming that we'd find

How soon it would forget us.

 

Once upon a time

Love had a happy ending;

Love would not forsake us,

No fake and no pretending.

Love was real for me and you -

But how soon we were to know

Once upon a time was long ago.
