I'm Doing Okay

I'm doing okay

I'm walking the line

But

Press my button,

Pull my trigger

Release the cortisol,

Fire up the adrenalin

Scream or bite,

Flight or fight

(With me it's always flight)

I run away. I hide

Behind a mask

That's calm

A mask that says

I'm doing okay

Thanks for all the comments. 'I'm doing okay' embraces a really long continuum. Today I really am doing okay.

Hi, Hazel,

Sometimes I get the feeling that as long as I can "look" as if its OK, then it's really OK. I'm not sure if this applies to you at all, and forgive me if it doesn't, but then, as they say, "success is the greatest revenge" upon any who seek to destroy your happiness.

I, like most, rather like the idea of fight rather than flight, but then we aren't always afforded a proper platform from which to defend from attack-- and that is always a consideration from a strategist's standpoint.

Seems (maybe) a very personal piece of writing, reconciled very simply and clearly..

I suspect we're all a bit gooey on the inside.

Nice one, Hazel. I can't help thinking, after reading your poem, about the movie "The Mouse that Roared." Not the plot, but the title. Someday, you'll be the mouse that roared, and mighty will be your voice. You will be heard!!

Lovely poem.

I know the feeling Hazel but I'm learning to turn flight into fight. Doesn't work all the time but it's definitely better than self-doubting. With you all the way walking the line. Thanks for posting. C?L
