January 10 David Bowie on a Blackstar departed and left

Alan Rickman on the 14th as the Sheriff of Nottingham left us bereft

On the 18th Glen Frey like an eagle he soared so deft

Terry Wogan passed on January 31 what a sad theft

Feb 19 To kill a mocking bird Harper Lee crossed the  brink

Feck  on the 28th Father Jack (Frank Kelly) took his last drink

March 8th George Martin took the long and winding road tragic

On St Patricks day Paul Daniels waved his wand that's magic

On the 31st it was goodnight from Ronnie Corbett endemic

April 12 David Gest faced the music a TV reality star intact

Victoria Wood on the 20th said let's do it tonight that's a fact

the 21st saw purple rain on Prince as he performed his last act

Carla Lane a real liver bird on May 31 left us the legacy of bread

The greatest (Muhammad Ali) on June 3 left the ring no more to be said

Mrs Merton(Caroline Aherne) on July 2 a royle heroine of comedy

Postman Pat(Ken Barrie) on day 29 delivered his last letter you see

Gene Wilder took a bow on August 29 Willy Wonka to you and me

October 23 Jimmy Perry  It ain't half hot mum in dads army

Also on the same day spin Pete Burns round like a record baby

Jimmy DJ forever young spun his last disc on 7 of November  

Snap Leonard Cohen sang Hallelujah  on this day remember

The man from U.N.C.L.E. (Robert Vaughn)  on the 11th became a member

December 18 Zsa Zsa Gabor left for green acres darling surprise

Christmas eve the status quo ended with Rick Parfitt's demise

It was to be a last Christmas day for George Michael heal the pain

On the 27th Carrie Fisher (Leia) left the planet a star again

The very next day her mummy(Debbie Reynolds) sang in the rain

 

There were many that I did not mention

To  leave anyone out was not my intention

The year of 2016 just rolled over and died

Many were taken but none will be forsaken

A worthwhile and enjoyable tribute list for the "celebrity departed" of 2016. Wasn't Alan Rickman more accurately
Robin Hood's foe as the Sheriff of Nottingham? Not to
mention his scene stealing role as "Hans Gruber" in "Die Hard"!
