When the KKK and the Kremlin

Are sharing their vodka and rye

When redneck mutherfuckers

are making Lady Liberty cry

When The land of the free is walled in

So pesky Mexicans can’t get by

That’s the day the rest of us

Watches America die.

When the Whitehouse houses a bigot

A misogynist ‘locker room’ fly

When a multi-billionaire

Stands for momma’s apple pie

When a name shines on a tower

That reaches up to the sky

That’s the day the rest of us

Watches America die.

When a straw thatched Umpa-Lumpa

Pedals the conspiracy lie

When a tax dodging privileged hypocrite

Tells workers he’s their kinda guy

When a bully is sitting as president

And parents tell their children why

That’s the day the rest of us

Watches America die,

Surely the only difference between JFK/Nixon/GW Bush/Clinton/Trump etc is that we already know what a devious conniving bastard he is, whereas with the others we had to wait to find out en situ!

America won't die Ian (it died morally ages ago) we can't afford it to!

Fascinating that JFK - whose extra-marital dalliances in office were a source of ongoing despair to his Secret Service Minders - is fondly remembered, and how we
invoke "Camelot" to describe his short but showy tenure.
Trump isn't even in office and falls short of his famous
predecessor's amorous antics but the knives are being
wielded already. Unlike Kennedy who had an influential
millionaire father with crooked associations from the
days of prohibition and was no friend of this country,
Trump has no such antecedents. It should be fascinating
to see how things go from here now that the stage is
set for another extraordinary era in American history.

Ian,
That `motherfuckers`,`American pie, and `kinda guy` completely captures the bewilderment we feel here about someone like Trump getting the U.S. Presidency. That `name on a tower` makes us wonder if their idolization of
business-men is taking over.

I was out performing last night...with your delivery this would have gone down a bomb there.
