To fight an election

With huge risk of rejection

And endless stories from Tories

Of a sure win?

 

Looking through time's political prism

Rarely saw socialism

In an advanced state reflected

In who got elected

Often producing political schism.

 

The art of the possible, it's said

To the wish of the voter is wed

And no dreamer-cum-schemer

Or risen redeemer

Will lead where they want to be led.
