A FRIEND IS WAITING

The hallway was littered

pizza curry menus a smoorgasbord

a smell as of cats

the stairlift absent

perched atop the incline

and at the top finally

Bernard was upright in his chair

as per usual, but absent

wrung out of life

one hand caressing the carpet.

A sergeant first on the scene

had distractedly pressed the mouse

on the cavernous desk

life went on as per usual

messages cut through the gloom

alerts for attention

friends online

waiting waiting

wanting wanting.

Bernard now apparently unfriended

his recent life unexpectedly ended.

A constable drew the curtains apart

and all seemed suddenly about to start.

Thanks David for your comment. I feel like the invisible man at the moment, so very nice to have got a response
and I rewrote this three times to simplify it. The curtains letting light in was just an idea to compound the situation that the process of change will start on the physical level and the march of the internet yes ! A slight teaser maybe at the end. Thanks .

Thanks also Lynn Bless yer. x
