SWEET FUCK ALL

I'd love to write a poem

at least to make a start,

but I havn't had a tragedy

nor yet a broken heart.

Politics is much too rough

and flowers much too common.

I need a topic to muse upon

to get the readers enthusing on,

some great mythical event

might prove to be from heaven sent

or a seaside view with developments due

or would that be too solemn?

Nature in all its variety

is a bit too obvious for me,

a genuflection on charity collection

or giving sex for free - let's see.

It's such a worry,

and i'm in a hurry

to conjure up some thoughts,

but cul de sacs are all I find

and a view of last resorts.

Ah! I think i've got the theme,

and it does seem pretty vital,

i've called the poem "sweet fuck all"

both the content and the title.

Thanks all for your consideration and I feel acquitted as this was written with some bitterness (self inflicted). The humour is a kind of two finger exercise to seriousness, so I am delighted to have raised a laugh !
It has cleared the air and something sinister has rushed in, blimey !

Often, it's a case of "trying too hard" - whatever the
situation...whatever the aim. I think SB's recall of
Ernest Hemingway's observation makes some sense
within the context of the creative process.
These lines remind me of some (memory makes
them inexact) that add to the piquancy of our
transient existence.
Life is a jest - and all things show it
I thought so then - and now I know it.

clever and funny ray. for me, hemingway had the best idea;

“The best way is always to stop when you are going good and when you know what will happen next. If you do that every day … you will never be stuck. Always stop while you are going good and don’t think about it or worry about it until you start to write the next day. That way your subconscious will work on it all the time. But if you think about it consciously or worry about it you will kill it and your brain will be tired before you start.” — Ernest Hemingway

i always try to do this and it works a lot of the time.
