Upon Deaf Ears

Upon Deaf Ears

Some are using foodbanks,

Fighting,

Other’s in the January sales,

Fighting,

Some believe in God,

Fighting,

Those believing in Allah,

Fighting.

The gun carriers,

Fighting,

Children at school,

Fighting,

A black man

Fighting

A white man

Fighting,

A black woman

Fighting

A white woman,

Fighting!

Protagonists,

Fighting

Ego

Fighting

Souls

Fighting

Spirits

Fighting

Men of law

Fighting

Men of law!

It’ll never end,

And the moment you state

You stand for peace

Be the moment they call you;

     Coward!

Preacher fighting preacher

Teacher fighting teacher

Brothers fighting brothers

Sisters fighting sisters

Parents fighting parents

Children fighting children

     Parents fighting children

Preacher fighting teacher

Mother fighting father

Brother fighting sister,

Systems fighting systems

Society fighting society,

Institutions fighting for survival

     While,

People fight in food banks,

People fight for play stations

In the January sales and,

     Drift away Moon,

Drift away Sun,

Let the planet freeze within

Its solitude,

Let it eat itself

Upon its hate,

     And the instinct of

Those we devour and call food,

Drift away, drift away, drift away!

Very observational Michael. Its intresting that until the last three lines the whole peice is outward looking.

Then the contrast with the last three lines which are inward looking, a retreat into self. This to me makes complete sense, sometimes the best chance of survival is to turn your back on the outside world. The problem being solitary survival isnt much fun.

Good stuff

Hope you're ok mate.
