The enemy

The enemy isn’t each other

Somebody of a different race, belief or colour

Somebody that says I’m right and you’re wrong

The enemy isn’t a person

Your father or your brother

A cousin an ex-friend or lover

The enemy is the very thing

To which that you do not want to admit

The enemy is the secret you have to keep

The enemy is the pain that gnaws away

At your own belief

Of it’s my right

The enemy is the thief in the night

The one that lay’s in wait in the very centre of your heart

The one that robs you of your courage

The enemy is the one that whispers

Searing hate and pain

The enemy is greed

Jealousy

Revenge

Ignorance

Disrespect

Hate

Malevolence

Mistrust and FEAR

The enemy does not care

About truth

The one thing the enemy

Fears most of all is

LOVE

So today

Tomorrow

Next month

Next year

Hold out the welcome hand of friendship

The smile that says yes instead of no

I agree, the enemy is often your own ego.
Well portrayed.

There's a psychological truth in this - the enemy do exist in the material sense but must first be created in the minds and beliefs to be made real. (My opinion only).
In an international stage enemies can vary according to political expedience. It's all frightening stuff.

You make peace with yourself
conflict has not been engaged
emotional forces have no choice
the enemy has to retreat.
