A Pretty Shitty Little Ditty... OR.. It Was Good Enough For Shakespeare....

entry picture

Rhyme

In its time

Can shine.

And take and make in its wake

A pretty

Little ditty

From a shitty

Set of word which occur when you stir

A poets thoughts

And get caught

Unsought

In their dreams, what they mean and the ream

Of ideas

That free us

And see us

Not just mortals, but as portals

To sublime.

Thats rhyme.

In its time.

Rhyming is fine at the end of a line
Or if you can fiddle it into the middle -
As you can see here, it will gladden the ear
Of many a reader. For you know they need a
Strong rhythm, and rhyme, at the end of each line.

lets hear it for us rhyming poets! XX

Yes - glad you posted this Cate. It is easy to lose sight of the beauty of rhyming poetry - there is nothing quite like Shakespeare and this is a very clever poem.
