CROSSWORDS IN THE PUB

CROSSWORDS IN THE PUB

We’re doing crosswords in the pub

Because that’s what lovers do

When they fall out of love

Crosswords in the pub

We don’t speak much anymore

Except to discuss clues

Because that’s what lovers do

When disenchantment ensues

We’re doing crosswords in the pub

But at least we’re still together

Keeping each other company

Uncomfortably

Going down or going across

Moving words about

We’re doing crosswords in the pub

Trying to work things out.

Another acutely-well-observed poem David - sometimes you make my teeth itch, you see things so clearly.

David,

What a perfectly appropriate across and up and down and mutually connected and dependent metaphor for your theme.

This is what I call well fitted!

Interesting David. Never a cross word between them? ;-)
