WORK

entry picture

It wakes me in the small hours

     Bleary

     Bog eyed  batty

Then loads it's burden upon me

     'Til I'm shaken

     Shattered... and scatty

     Work!

     It's like a giant

And I'm held as it's captive

     It's shackles bind me

     And make me inactive

     Work!

The satisfaction levels it gives me are limited

     Insubstantial

     Crappy! .... sparse!

And the happiness it bestows upon me

Is as pleasant as shit from my arse

     Work!

     Work's.....Disgustin!

     Work's....Demeanin!

     Work's....Depressin!

     Work's... A Drain!

     Work's...A Parasite!

     Work's...A Pillock!

     Work's...A Piss-Take!

     Work's...A Pain!

     Work!

Hiya John.

I think workplace alienation is a MASSIVE problem. You capture the frustration here and give work two fingers - on behalf of countless millions. So many people will know just how you feel.

Do you sometimes go to poetry nights at the Tudor? If you spot me there, introduce yourself. Cheers.

PS I'm terrible with faces and names, so apologies if you already have said 'hello'!

Hi John,
so much toil for so little satisfaction!
Too few and far between are those who can truly say they enjoy their work.
Sad but true.
You just have to see the funny side. Love this.
