....that ever I'll get back.

I’ve got a little nest egg that I’ve built up over time

I’ve earned it all “by hand and brain” and none of it through crime;

And though I’ve been a cautious chap I thought I’d have a bash

At making an investment with my little bit of cash.

I’m looking for a prospect which is very poorly run

And one where all my friends will chorus, “Johnboy, you’ve been done!”;

An outfit where the management refuse to rectify

Its ills; instead they place their faith in pork-pie-in-the-sky;

A country or a company which cannot carry on

Unless it begs for more to add to funds already gone;

And, oh, there is just one last thing, before I should forget –

Best of all a record of defaulting on its debt;

So having worked for all my life to make my modest stack

I’ll make investments with no chance that ever I’ll get back.

"Greece" my palm with silver...I guarantee no
chance of any return!
"No man is an island..." wrote Donne, but why
not sell a few down Aegean way to make a few
euros for the empty coffers?

Many thanks for your kind offer, Jackie. But my wife is an arterial bleeder (in the financial sense you understand!) She sucks up my money like a black hole.

No need to go to Greece John, I'd be quite happy to be a poor investment opportunity all on my ownsome, just hand over the cash (joke). A great little poem, made me laugh. Thanks for the giggle.
