New Year, New Year Resolutions

New year, New year resolution

Gotta be strong, want absolution

This year I'm going to lose some weight

But what will I do without my cake?

Carrot cake, is that one of my 5 a day?

That areas always been kinda grey

And New York cheesecake, that's not so bad

Without the cheese it could be a new fad

Lovely and rich, chocolate fudge

Keep eating that and the weight won't budge

What about a plain victoria sponge?

Into that my fork will plunge

I also love my mum's pecan pie

The thought of it could make me cry

The sweet sugary filing beneath the nuts

Its enough to make you a greedy guts

Christmas cake can be too rich

And simnel cake I could easily ditch

Too full of fruit, too much marzipan

Of these cakes I'm not a fan

In Devon a cream tea is jam, cream and scone

My love for these go on and on

Leave then in the oven too long and they're like rock cakes

So just rename then to cover your mistakes

An eccles cake is so full of fruit

And sugary, flaky pastry to boot

Thinking about then makes my belly rumble

Not to mention warm apple crumble

But I should have mentioned at the start

I'm also find of the odd bakewell tart

Lovely white icing with a cherry on top

I just don't know where to stop

Of course in March it's time for birthday cake

It'll probably be shop bought, not a home bake

But I don't mind, I'll still enjoy it

The odd slice won't make any difference to my diet
