The Demise of the Optimist

I arose to a light each day
No fret nor fear
Light was my heart each day
No burden of tomorrow

Swift was the awakening
And thus came the end
For the warm and friendly optimist

Maybe it was dust was buried
Or the earth that swallowed
The oh so promising optimist

Cries went unheard
Of a life endangered
By the swallowing ignorance
And the engulfing endeavors

Lasting only so long
And the time came before long
For the optimists last song

Defeated by himself
The duality engulfs
The last of his strength
And lays waste the light
That so long carried the life

Distraught yet not reduced
Hoping one day to find
A way of this island
Where lovers be free
And music be the food
Where flying is no longer and urge
And outcasts are welcomed

Light will be my heart
To live each day in such a paradise
Suffering must pass, shan’t it?

Make way for the sharp light
Piercing our hearts
Shattering the hopelessness
And freeing our hearts
Of prejudice and biases
Of grudges and second guessing

Distant it seems to dream of such a world
Lonely it seems to dream of such a world
Long hidden truths will be revealed
