BUYING GIFTS

See them rushing...making haste,

No time to lose - no time to waste;

No sign of pausing,

No thought of stopping,

All in thrall to Christmas shopping.

Faces with their fixed expressions,

Trying to fend off deep depressions;

Searching for that urgent prize,

To satisfy another's eyes.

Hordes of shoppers - pushing, shoving,

Far removed from scenes of loving;

Each mind hoping to locate

The gift that someone will think great.

Hurrying...scurrying - endless worrying,

Do they take the time to pray

That they'll be blessed

 And find the present

That brings a smile on Christmas Day.

Only so many hours to go

But then again...I'm sure you'll KNOW!!

I've never had a poem written about me before. Thank you.

Ho-ho spelt backwards is Oh-oh! Probably the
more accurate reaction from many out in the shops
during the approach to Christmas.
Curmudgeons of the world unite - Ebenezer Scrooge
as President Emeritus!
Bah humbug!!
(But I like it really).

Yes, this certainly accurately but artistically describes the mayhem. So sad that most often the giver likes the present better than the recipient!

You capture well the pace of activity.
(For some reason it reminds me of "Night Mail")
