Perfect Punk - Perfect Day

I was in a New York frame of mind

A perfect day under a skyscraper sky

Strolling down the dirty boulevard

Waiting for the man with pale blue eyes

Then little sister I heard a sad song

A street hassle vicious piece of news

A soul man with attitude has gone

Now I got the rock n roll animal blues

Sweet Jane - Not a magic moment

White light white heat check out the sound

He is so free on a satellite of love

Laid down on the velvet underground

Andy Warhol lit his flame

He sure had his 15 minutes of fame

When it’s a punk that you need

Who you gonna call – Lou Reed

Take a walk on the wild side

And all the coloured girls say

Doo do doo do doo do do doo

Hi Dean - Thanks for your input and comments. Music seems very manufactured now days. Lou was one of a kind. Like your Top Ten Non Movers. Cheers Tom

I agree. It's a sad day for music with Lou's death. Along with Iggy he was one of the founding fathers of punk in attitude as well as in music. While the rest of american music at the time was upbeat and pretty. The Velvet Underground associated with themselves with the underbelly of society,singing about the darker parts of life. They also helped the scene develop in New York of pioneers like Patti Smith and Television the precursors to punk in America. The poem spoke wonders.
