The 26 October closing date is approaching for the Funeral Services of Northern Ireland poetry competition, launched earlier this month on National Poetry Day. The organisers are looking for poems on the theme of eulogy or bereavement, up to 40 lines, and want previously unpublished work from poets over 18 who live in Northern Ireland.

Winners will be notified by 31 October. On Friday 2 November at Parliament Buildings, Stormont, regional winners from Co Antrim, Co Armagh, Co Down, Co Fermanagh, Co Londonderry, Co Tyrone and Belfast will be invited to read their poems before the overall winner is announced. Each regional winner will win £100 worth of Co-operative vouchers and the overall winner gets a further £250 worth of Co-operative vouchers.
