Sheffield unveils digital poetry slam for Off The Shelf festival

entry picture

A poetry slam with a difference – it’s digital – is being run in Sheffield with embedded videos of local poets performing at key locations across the city. 21 Poets for Sheffield is run by local poetry organisation Word Life in association with Off The Shelf festival, Sheffield’s festival of words, which runs from 13 October to 3 November. The 21 venues are all linked to the Off The Shelf schedule, from the Winter Garden and the Showroom Cinema to Sheffield Cathedral and Park Hill Flats. The selection of poets reflects the exciting range of poetry being created in Sheffield. Each film has been lovingly shot and edited by local filmmaker Nathan Gibson.

The online audience will be given the opportunity to vote on their favourite poet, with the victor announced at the Off The Shelf Party on 2 November at Queens Social Club.
