Donations are essential to keep Write Out Loud going

World War II by Hannah (My 9 year old granddaughter is published!)

Sorry folks, my turn to brag!

Hannah, now 10, wrote this poem last year while still 9, and it has been chosen for print in a book called "Travel Back in Rhyme" by Young Writers.

What I can see …

Searchlights gleaming overhead

Careful, a bomb might give you a fright

Rubble fills the streets

Erupting bombs smashing through windows

What I can hear …

Burst pipes spitting water over everyone

People screaming loud everywhere

Guns firing at planes

Sirens going out for safety

What I can feel …

Damp and cold floor

All gooey and sludgy

All the frights are shakier than ever

Tears dropping from everyone’s eyes

Wishing the war would end.

Hi Stef, congratulations to Evie for her poem, bless her, that's not at all bad for 6! And a chocolate ad, now you're talking my favourite food, haha.
Sounds like your Jakey did really well too. Yes, definitely thank heaven for our kids! xxxx

ps-Our Evie once won second place 1st grade
in the Laguna Beach California(where she used to live but now lives in San Francisco) Coastline newspaper Friday May 25th 2001 with this little ditty aged 6.

Bird Travelling

Bird travelling,bird travelling
it was fun to see you
when I saw your face
I liked it,when I saw you

It was a shame that you died
I wish you would come back to me
how I wish I could see you again
love you,bye.

mmmmm...don't give up your day job Evie-lol!
aww cute though.

another one for the braggon train Lynn-

Our Jakey aged three did a little better and became the Ray Mears lookalike in the July/Aug 2009 edition of Bushcraft and survival skills.
Nothing to do with poetry that is until we think one up for him with his pikky from the the mag that is soooo cute!

But Evie was'nt to be outdone
she went on to star in
the'Thorntons is choclate Heaven'add
Her line was-'you have to be good to get in'-
no Oscar's though I,m afraid-grrrr!

We will have to do a poem for her as well.

Thank heaven-choclate or not
for all kids eh Lynn.xx

Thank you Stefan and Patricia for kind comment :o)

And so you should brag Lynn
that's what Grandparents are meant to do
about their 'Grandy little bandies'

She should brag about her name too.xx

Congratulations to Hannah, Lynn. She has a good imagination and feel for suffering.

Kids tend to be very modest. My old mum ended up waltzing into my daughter's school and bearding the teachers with the whole story... I've a feeling she'll be ringing up the local papers next :) x

Thank you Greg and Harry. Yes, I am very proud and told her she should be too, after her saying on facebook that she is embarrassed! Kids... lol
