Mothering Sunday Mk III

commercialism overload

Christmas

Valentines

a price to pay

the list goes on

everywhere

I go now

it’s Mothers Day…

I can’t check

my emails without

being instructed

my soul laid bare

to buy this

or that for

my dear mum

to show I care.

 I’d love to comply

Mr. Ad Man

but Mum would need -

wouldn’t you say?-

to still be alive

thanks for

reminding me

have a nice day!

Hi Stef, not sure when it's Benji's day - perhaps we should make one up for him!
Ha ha, yes I remembered when you said it was one of your old poems, I thought ah yes, the poem had nothing to do with sugar puffs but the title was about smelling sugar puffs in your wee! Then Tricia's was a poem not about the man who writes poems not about smelling sugar puffs...
And I thought Colin and I was stark raving mad! lol.
Thanks for comment. xxxx

What I would like to know is
when is it Benji's day?

Did you remember our sugar puffs titles
some time ago by the way?

Oh! watch those memory banks
don't dry up!
haha

Changed it again, and calling it MK III. Right, I've had enough of it now!! :o)

Thanks for your kind words, Glyn.
I changed the rhyming pattern on this, and now wonder if I lost some of the meaning. Perhaps I'll try it in free verse! :o)

Yes, without being all terribly clever with words and meaning and all that, the message is just straightforward and told and meaningful. Take note Mr Capitalist and all you hypocrites who only buy for your mothers on mothering Sunday.
