Woman In The Mirror

A rather plump old lady

Keeps staring back at me

When I look in the mirror.

Whoever can she be?

The wrinkles I see on her face

Are enough to cause dismay.

Just what is she doing there?

I wish she’d go away.

I think she’s got a blooming cheek

To stand there in my glass,

With flabby tum and thunder thighs

Not to mention that big arse.

I’ll give her an ultimatum,

Three days to disappear,

And come back looking younger

Just like in yesteryear.

Very true, Makhumza. This was just a bit of fun. Thanks for comment. :)

Dear whoever is reading this, you're beautiful and someone out there is crazy about you. So smile. Life is too short to be unhappy.

Always,always remember (young'ish)Lady
its not what is on the outside that matters
but what is on the inside.

I,m more than happy
knowing what is on my inside-
a large plateful of bangers'n'mash!
followed rapidly by sponge cake
and custard-haha!xx

I quite like Anthony's comment :)

You seem to have hit the mark with this poem Lynn.

I think the time to worry is when you look in the mirror and see a fit, trendy young thing - that looks nothing like the body in front of it... then you just have to rely on a few good friends or sisters to tell you the truth. Mine are keeping schtum for the moment - but it's a question of time ;)

Always up for a bit of spear-headed nonsense, aren't you? You like to tickle the pencil across the page (or the cursor along the screen) just for a bit of fun. You are very adept at it; keep them coming, fast and funny, and so accurate.

Eh, tell me about it!! There comes a time when you realise that it's not that you're tired, or you've been a bit stressed...those bloody eye bags are now PERMANENT grrr ;D

I gave up with my mirror Lynn. I'm looking for one of those "Who is the fairest of them all" mirrors. Do they do them in Argos?

To quote Groucho Marx: (although he said it the other way around)

"A woman is only as old as the man she feels."

I hope you're feeling well . . . :)

Regards,
A.E.

What a pleasure to read something delightfully funny "against self". Refreshing...like a glass of that stuff that "fortifies the over
forties" (I know its name...just can't recall
how to spell it!).
