In Times of Trouble

In times of trouble,

they need me.

In times of peace,

they can't stand me.

In times of trouble,

they say, "I love

you Mom."

In times of peace,

they would rather die

than admit this.

In times of trouble,

they come to me

for advice.

In times of peace

they think I'm

too old.

In times of trouble,

I say, "Believe me

I've been there."

In times of peace,

they say, "Yeah right,

your just to old

to understand."

Your poem makes me think of the most common concept of God. I enjoyed the read.

Hi Shirley
I really enjoyed reading this and must admit the sentiments expressed are totally spot on when it comes to children/family relationships. Nice to see you're back again! (p.s; still love the illustrations) x
