Famous Scenes Of Sadness (01/02/12)

entry picture

The morning comes
The birds wake
Singing news
The world’s survived

Coffee, paper,
Mothers on television,
Screaming over brothers
Sons, husbands

Hysterical shawled heads
Like horses,
Open mouthed
Consuming grief

The backdrop
Some Guernica scene
Of gored limbs,
Shattered houses

One more morning awake
Some tragic blunder,
A bombed wedding,
Routine madness.

Morning birds juxtaposed against television news is an eloquent observation. This is a concise. well-scripted poem with a potent message.

Yes... unfortunately it has become all too common.
