Autumn Dawn

The sun is low in the east,

moon up high, north-west.

They kiss my cheeks

as I wander out

to greet the day.

There’s a chill in the air,

a promise in the sky.

Fasten my jacket,

I’m on my way.

Soon it will be dark

at this early hour,

just another month.

I shall stay longer

snuggled up in bed.

Sun peeps over the rooftops,

the moon will soon be gone,

hands deep in my pockets,

no clouds in my head

That is one of the beneifits of dog walking Lynn...although we don't want to be up so early they allow us to see the world before she is truly awake..you have captured the scene so well..nice one Lynn xx

Hi Lynn, 'hands deep in my pockets' reminded me of a poem by Fleur Adcock I think called The Immigrant. Yours so well expressed the sudden change of weather tone.

Lol! Thanks for your comments, S&T, much appreciated. This was inspired by walking Benji at 6.20 in the morning before going to work! Thanks again, Lynn xxxx

aha!
did,nt let my ignorance show
this time.(having nearly missed 'love games)

this reminds me of so many
woodland Autumn walks we have had,
in which we always ended up
making piles with dead leaves-
lying down on them and......(better not)

you will have the sweats hee hee.

especially loved the last two lines

night night lovely Lady
