Disturbing Night

entry picture

Have you ever woken in the dead reprieve of night

Where darkness holds you captive, reality the only light

A troubled mind so focused that will cannot deter

From the crisp and crystal clarity with boundaries such a blur

That coldness seeping from your heart to chill your very soul

A suffocating sense of dread that reason won't control

Panic's clasping manacles stir instinct's need to flee

Decisions bombard rationale but none seem to agree

So there you lie a volunteer, solitary now confined

No sanctuary, no haven, no escaping from you mind

Distraction's the only course I say, negative must be banned

Act swiftly, with determined grasp, and take yourself in hand!

Christopher, I use other "stimulants", but, hey, whatever works for you!
Seriosly though, I enjoyed the poem; twice in fact. The first time I enjoyed the ride of the rhythm, the second the lyricism.
Keep posting.

simplistically yet well described
all too common
nightly journey

that I for one travel all too often
most times
instigated you could say
by wizzywords spinning around
ones grey haired cranium.

the solution?
need I tell you?
no-not the palm pilot thingy-but
L'amour! cor!

cheers
