Tonight, 31 March, Cardiff’s Pierhead hosts its first arts event when Spoken Word All Stars, make their first foray into Wales.
With five poets and one musician, the free show includes international award winners and acclaimed performers Kat Francois, OneNess, El Crisis and Chris Redmond, as well as local poet and head of Academi, Peter Finch - whose poetic words can be seen set in concrete outside the new Central Library.
Accompanied by the globally renowned sax player Jason Yarde, this all-star cast veers between comedy, tragedy, romance and philosophy.

Spoken Word All Stars is a collaboration between charity Poet in the City and Apples & Snakes. Their journey began at Latitude Festival 2010, and is featured on TV as a documentary by Sky Arts. Since then, they have earned a reputation as one of the most exciting poetry collectives in the country.
This event marks an important landmark in the Pierhead building’s long history as well as reflecting recent trends in the Welsh arts scene. Attendance is free but tickets early booking needed: spokenwordallstars@live.co.ukor 07908 367488.
