Cooper Clarke, Hegley, and loads of open mic at Cheltenham Poetry Festival

There are some cracking events on at the Cheltenham Poetry Festival that starts this week and runs from 31st March to 3rd April 2011.

Yep, John Cooper Clarke, John Hegley, Bohdan Piesecki and lots, lots more poetry stuff including several open mic opportunities. Other highlights include:

  • Themed events exploring different poets’ responses to feelings or experiences, for example Poetry and Gardening, and The Poetry of Love.
  • The Gloucester Schools’ Poetry Slam, along with other schools’ and children’s events.
  • Workshops and one-to-ones to help people with their own writing.
  • Open mic sessions featuring the finest local and national poets.
  • Poetry In Motion - a showcase of short films about poetry, by poets.
  • Live poetry on the streets of Cheltenham.
  • Fusion events such as Piaf and Poetry, and Jazz and Poetry (see our 'What's On pages), as well as a host of readings by poets well known and less well known.
