I knew Siegfried Sassoon: memories of a fox-hunting man

entry picture

Siegfried Sassoon was one of the great first world war poets. He won the Military Cross, then became a conscientious objector, and met Wilfred Owen when he was sent to Craiglockhart hospital in Scotland by the powers-that-be to get him out of the news. He was also an excellent cricketer and played for his county,  Kent. This month’s talk on Friday April 8 at Lancashire and Cheshire Branch of the Western Front Association is by Denis Silk, a past-president of the MCC who met Sassoon and became friends with him.
Date: Friday 8 April. Venue: TA Centre, Greek Street, Stockport. Time: 7.30 pm. Donation: £3 Map
