Like Petals In The Wind
He said "I met them all on line you know,
but so many are now lost from view,
some folk are like petals in the wind
when we can't see them, I wonder can you?"
I said " I have an inkling that
I may have seen one or two,
tell me were they pink sir?"
He said, oh no, mine were all blue."
To this I then replied "Sir,
I must confess I'm shocked!
I didn't know it was so cold,
were they from hollyhocks?
He laughed at me and spluttered
"No dear chap they were all hydrangeas"
I said "you've lost me once again,
'cos I thought those were pipe flanges"
And so we went our separate ways,
each with a thought to ponder,
and though I'm no kind of gardener
I sure do like the great blue yonder.
