Present and Aware
She could have witnessed the bright blue iridescence that clashed
Against verdant green, as the kingfisher flashed
Returning from slow, clear water to his riverbank home.
She could have, but she was far too busy on her phone
She could have witnessed the multicoloured rainbow painting
darkening heavens, with daylight abating
Blackened sky with sparkling starlight, a silvered moon, slow flown.
She could have, but she was far too busy on her phone
She could have witnessed countless blossoms budding on the trees
Thick yellow pollen smothered legs of honeybees
Flight path through flowered blooms, then back to hive and home
She could have, but she was far too busy on her phone
She could have witnessed the baker's van speeding down the road
Overtaking the lorry that had swiftly slowed
Blindly stepping forward onto the crossing, all alone
She'd be alive today if she had only looked up from her phone

Beno, you are right, I remember a world where a phone call was made in a telephone box down the road. The occurrence of young people disregarding the space around them while they live their lives through a small bright screen is growing but I can say that more and more old f@rts are doing likewise apart that because of their age they are so much slower😂😂😂
