Forgotten Towns
The old pitmen dug their last
Almost a hundred years had passed
Eyes blinking at the sun
Their time below now done
And so began the great decline
No promised roses nor fine wine
Villages slept into decay
Along with hopes of brighter days
Boarded windows, children bored
Food & clothes to ill afford
Softly, softly, catchee monkey
But the monkey's old & so so hungry
Maggie hit the final nail
Blackened faces forever pale
Veins of seams still run below
Crumbling arteries of long ago
The lies of Governments come free & easy
As the masses chant: Why don't you see me?
