And then sadly, there was one-less!

Maimed, by a trap,

a terrified Crow, surging about frantically,

tries, but fails to stand, flaps his wings, but is going nowhere.

An ugly scene, that will be witnessed by his companions,

calling out requiem, after squawking requiem,

not realising, that the noise will be carried, to the ears,

of a hungry Fox, who, with his teeth bared, fixed smile,

will be only too ready, to bring the unfortunate birds life,

to a ripping apart conclusion.

Bad enough setting traps, but as you say, Hugh, re the consequences of a slow death that the victim would suffer, doesn't bear thinking about, unfortunately.

Thanks for also back tracking Hugh, Have a great Sunday.

This is a strong message to anyone who sets traps as to what the consequences could be.It would break my heart if the squrrel who constantly visits my garden would end up in a trap.Brilliant😜

So we'll crafted, various lines bring to mind of the horror of anything caught in a trap. 'Surging frantically' makes you see the distress.

Not a easy read

Yes, it is hard to distinguish the difference twixt Crow and Raven M.C. but, to see ANY bird suffer in the ways you and I describe, is always a painful sight.

Leaving a trap unattended! whhatt!?

I can go off people, do you know 😝

Manish, Holden, Stephen, Hugh, Tom, thanks bigtime!

It is likely, but I hope that any of you guys haven't come across scenes similar to this/these.

These lines instantly took me back to a similar personal experience that distressed me then and does now. Up on rain-swept hills during a walk across the Scottish highlands, I came
across a dead crow (raven?) that had been trapped in a cruel
device and had perished either through drowning in the surrounding rain pool or had starved to death - and I cursed the careless clown who had set the trap but had left it unattended,
cruelly unmindful of the fate of any luckless creature caught in
its merciless metal jaws.
